During a hectic second week on Big Brother Canada, one that welcomed a pair of eccentric international houseguests and a bunch of chaotic competitions, Sharry Ash was forced to check out of the BBCAN Grand early, following a landslide vote on Thursday. For the 30-year-old customer service supervisor from Toronto, her incredible social game was both her strength and her weakness. And when she was abruptly placed on the block beside her closest ally Loveita Adams, (who had stirred up the house last week as the first Head of Household of the season,) Sharry was shocked that it was her who wound up on the wrong side of an 11-1 vote.
“I was expecting a couple of votes to go my way, but that’s the thing with Big Brother, you have no idea. You just have to pray that it goes your way,” Ash told Postmedia Network following her eviction this week.
“But when I think about it, it makes sense. People were afraid of my game and they saw Loveita has a big target to keep in the house to keep themselves safe. It makes sense.”
Once Loveita had managed to snag the inaugural HoH, she used her newfound power to target budding showmance Kelsey Faith and Jared Kesler. But when the duo flipped the votes and sent pawn Paige Distranski out the door instead last Thursday, Loveita knew she was in trouble after Jared snagged the next HoH competition.
As Loveita’s closest friend in the house, Sharry was guilty by association and sat next to her on the block once Jared made his nominations known. Although the house made it clear that Loveita was the target, Sharry’s friendly social game and ability to get along with the whole house made her a bigger threat in the eyes of the strategic players in power, as the week went on.
“I didn’t think that I was threatening at all,” she said, laughing her ouster off. “I was just trying to get to know people and hang out with people. I was doing my thing but people are looking at that and thinking game. I guess because I formed a lot of relationships and bonds with people, they figured that that could be used to my advantage to take me through the game.”
Up until the last minute, it wasn’t certain who would be heading out the door as the friends and players began their campaign. But when Arisa Cox announced that Loveita was in fact safe, Sharry’s fate in the game was sealed with an eviction.
“On eviction night, people were very sketchy,” she explained. “Nobody really wanted to talk much. It really felt like it could have gone any way based on what was going on throughout the week and what I was hearing from people. I had no idea that this was coming. And I think that maybe even Loveita didn’t even think it was going to be like that either.”
Big Brother Canada airs Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on Global.
