When a surprising double eviction ransacked the Big Brother Canada house just two weeks before the winner is crowned, the BBCAN Grand’s King and Wildcard jester abruptly fell from grace and wound up heading to the jury, following the most dramatic week yet.
First, Jared Kesler – otherwise known as the biggest threat in the game – was ousted on Thursday thanks to a measly haircut, or lack thereof. During the week’s hectic Power of Veto competition, the brawny 24-year-old pipeline worker from Winnipeg had every opportunity to save himself, but when the comp asked him to cut his hair to gain the allotted points needed to win, he opted out to save his luscious locks instead. His hair may have cost him $100,000 but a king never regrets their choices.
“I could have easily won that, it just turns out the one thing I wasn’t willing to do was the haircut. And, I felt safe with Cassandra, so I wasn’t disappointed in my decision,” Kelser told Postmedia Network, in much better spirits than he was in on eviction night.
When Head of Household Cassandra Shahinfar stuck Jared up on the block (alongside non-threatening U.K. reality TV guru Nikki Grahame), he knew his game was toast, prompting major tension between Jared and Cass during the remainder of the week.
“I was definitely a big road-block between her and the grand prize but I just also thought that I could take her a lot further than a lot of people could in that game. I was very loyal to a lot of people. That was a big part of my game, so it was just disappointing that someone pulled the trigger on me when I really had their back.”
Following Jared’s eviction, U.K. wildcard Nikki Grahame wasn’t out of the hot-seat just yet. The houseguests were informed it was a double-eviction week, and when “the brothers” snagged the HoH win, the 33-year-old London-based TV personality was placed right back on the block on her birthday.
“It was the worst birthday ever,” the hilarious fan-favourite said. “To be up on that eviction chair waiting for people to vote me out was just painful. I just got saved at that point and I was looking forward to celebrating my birthday in the Big Brother Canada house and then I’m on the block again. It all just seems so surreal.”
Although not the most strategic player, Nikki made sure to entertain all season long with hilarious remarks, major meltdowns and some good old U.K. wit. It may not have taken her to the end, but it most certainly earned her a spot in Big Brother Canada fans’ good books.
“The U.K. experience is a lot more about personality and less about endurance and challenges and strategy,” she said, comparing her BBCAN experience to the U.K.’s version of the show. “I went into Big Brother Canada without strategy and it’s almost impossible to do that game without strategy. It’s full of intelligent, very calculated people that are determined to do whatever it takes to win a $100,000. It’s cutthroat in there.”
Big Brother Canada airs Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on Global.
