The fourth season of “Amazing Race Canada” has not premiered yet. But can fans now guess who would emerge victorious at the end?
Jillian MacLaughlin and Emmett Blois are probably the most famous contestants this season. According to the Toronto Sun, they first met on the first season of “Big Brother Canada.” MacLaughlin emerged as the winner that season. Blois, on the other hand, took third place. Will they also go far on “Amazing Race Canada?” Will these reality TV veterans win the whole race this season?
The team doesn’t really consider their being on “Big Brother” as an advantage. “I don’t know how we could possibly have an advantage based on who we are,” MacLaughlin told The Star. “I don’t think we’ll be any better because we’re on another show… It could [even] work the other way. Maybe people will feel threatened by us because they know we’re competitive.”
In the same interview, they also talked about their strategy for “Amazing Race.” They pointed out how different it would be from their “Big Brother” strategy. “What we’re worried about is the luck factor, not the physical factor,” Blois admitted.
“The lost taxicabs, memorizing lines, that kind of thing… In the Big Brother house, we monitored what we said. Boring sometimes pays off because it doesn’t get you into trouble. If you say what’s on your mind, well, the exciting crazy people go first. However, we’re not going to play the cutthroat game. Not going out of our way to be spiteful or hateful.”
MacLaughlin said they had to “downplay [their] personalities” on Big Brother. “In the house I was different,” she said. “People don’t like loud and in-your-face people,” she said. “But I can be more myself here. However, we know it’s going to be very difficult. I’m actually very worried.
She also discussed their edge over competitors. “We’re both very active,” she said. “The last four mornings we got up before the other competitors and did 5K runs. We also do our weights at night.”
Olympic medalist Jon Montgomery will once again host “Amazing Race Canada” this season.
